Dutch Mantel has been a special contributor to the Bagpipe Report newsletter and everything from a wrestler to a manager to a promoter. He also was the one who gave Steve Williams the name Steve Austin (because Steve couldn't think of anything better in the 10 minutes Dutch gave him to choose one). His columns are humorous and full of some major bullshitting, which is my kind of thing.
Dutch gives you a little idea of some of the things that can go on while wrestlers are on the road, many of which he experienced first-hand. In his columns, he has mentioned Mark Calaway numerous times, especially during his time as Mean Mark (circa late 80's). Below are some of Dutch's columns which mention some of the shit he and Calaway have gotten into on the road. I have kept the whole columns, because the entire thing is an interesting read, but since some of you might only want to see the parts with Calaway, since this is a Taker site and all, I'll highlight them in each article with blue.
Undertaker when he first came to Memphis weighed 315 pounds. He left 4 months later.... at a svelte 265. Actually he was starting to look like a survivor of the concentration camps of Nazi Germany.
Dirty Dutch, Action Jackson, and Calaway stopped by the Kentucky State Patrol. Paul E.'s reckless driving Dutch and Calaway nearly encounter the cops- again! And Dutch gives his top 5 basketball players in wrestling.
